More Signs of a Recovering Economy

The economy hasn’t rebounded from the recession nearly as quickly as anyone would have hoped, but every week it seems like there are at least some signs of life. This week, the sign comes from a USA Today article that reports that the economy created jobs in March at the fastest pace in the past three years.

The article quotes statistics from the Bureau of Labor Statistics that show that the economy created 162,000 jobs in March. While this is short of the 200,000 jobs predicted and unemployment is still at 9.7%, government officials are cautiously optimistic that things are finally turning around.

USA Today also mentioned what we’ve already reported from other sources, that temporary/contract hiring is increasing, which is another good sign that the economy is getting better. According to the article, temporary/contract jobs increased by 40,000 last month.
