Is Your Recruitment Agency Software Slowing You Down?

In a previous blog post, I addressed “4 Ways Software Can Speed Up the Recruiting Process.” Well, know I’m going to look at the other side of the coin. (And not just because I like money and references to money.)

Specifically, I’ll be discussing how you can tell if your recruiting agency software is slowing you down. The funny thing about software is that you can get used to it—even if it’s NOT the best software.

It’s kind of like boiling a frog in a pot of water. The frog does not jump out of the pot right away because it gradually becomes accustomed to the incremental increases in the water temperature. This continues to happen, until voila . . . the frog allows itself to get boiled!

The same goes for your recruiting software: you gradually become accustomed to its inefficiencies and shortcomings, until voila . . . you’ve allowed it to boil your billings!

Below are five questions to ask about your current recruitment agency software to tell if it’s slowing you down—or boiling you to death:

Does your recruitment agency software allow you to enter data easily?

Manual data entry is so 1880s. Okay, maybe not that long ago, but certainly 1980s. Look, parachute pants, big hair, and manual data entry are OUT. As Garth Algar would say, “Live in the now!” You need a resume parser, you need an email parser, and you need a contact importer, among other things. So, you know, it’s party time . . . excellent.

Is your recruitment agency software allowing you to search your data quickly?

Your data is not that useful to you if you can’t find it easily. How long does it take you to search for viable candidates? How about if you already have a candidate in mind and you search for the? Can you source them quickly and get them into the placement process? If you can’t, then that’s like having a can with no can opener.

Is your recruitment agency software customizable?

Your software should work the way you work, not force you to work the way it works. Does it have UDFs (user defined fields)? Can you name sections what you want to name them? Can you manipulate the software to mirror your workflow and your placement process? A recruiting software should be about YOU, not the software. Don’t stick with a selfish software. Break the cycle.

Is your recruitment agency software mobile?

How much are you on the go? How many times do you have to access your database when you’re not in the office, sitting directly in front of your desktop computer? Or when you’re at home with your laptop, binging on Netflix and potato chips? If your software does not provide you with not just mobile capabilities, but also easily accessible mobile capabilities, then you’re getting boiled? You smell that? Smells like missed placement opportunities. And potato chips.

Does your recruitment agency software help you market?

Does it have an email marketing engine? Is that engine tied in to your firm’s email client? Not only that, but what about posting your jobs on your firm’s website? The information should flow easily from your software package to your website, with seamless integration. Add your data, post your data, attract quality candidates, screen them, submit them, and place them. Then rinse and repeat.

Is your recruitment agency software boiling you like a frog? Have you simply become accustomed to its deficiencies and shortcomings? Don’t be resigned to that. You deserve more.
