Interview Process

For contracting positions, the focus of the interview questions will be on the candidate’s skills and the ability to get the job done. Interviews are normally conducted over the telephone. Client companies are interested in the person’s skills and abilities, not the candidate’s ability to fit the company’s culture. Most contract assignments are project oriented. Prepare the candidate and make sure the qualifications match the job order.

Regardless of the fact that contract placements are usually handled via the telephone, the candidate should be informed of the interview process.

  • The candidate should clearly understand any questions before formulating a meaningful answer.
  • The candidate should be specific and concise in all responses. Don’t stray from the topic.
  • The candidate should be professional and courteous. Treat the interviewer as an equal and remember that questions are being asked for the purpose of evaluating a skill or ability.

Listed below are some suggested questions that a candidate could ask at the appropriate time during the telephone interview.

  1. What are the most important responsibilities of the job?
  2. What is the most important thing I can do to help your company during my assignment?
  3. Will I mainly inherit projects or initiate them?
  4. Is it a team environment or an individual contributor role?
  5. To whom will I report?

In some cases, a face-to-face interview is required. If a face-to-face interview is required, the procedure is the same as in a direct placement.
