Best Practices
Marketing for recruiters is the most integral element for business success. Whether you are already a direct-hire recruiter or you are looking to get started in recruiting altogether, these best practices will help you with your recruiter marketing efforts.
Best Practice #1 – Be More Than a Recruiter…Be a Sole-Source Provider
Client companies are looking for a sole-source supplier of candidates for direct and contract job orders to simplify their world. They would rather deal with one recruiter who can meet all of their needs than juggle multiple recruiters’ candidates, phone calls, and emails. Being a sole-source supplier will increase your overall business from each client. Remember, companies do business with the people they believe can meet their staffing needs.
Best Practice #2 – Know When and Where to Market
When you are determining where to market your services, you are faced with decisions:
- What industry should I focus my contracting efforts on?
- Should I try to gain business from companies who already utilize contract staffing?
- Should I concentrate on companies unfamiliar with the use of contract staffing?
Include contracting in all of your advertising. The goal of advertising is to spread information about your services to attract new clients and candidates. Advertising can be simple or complex and as economical or expensive as your budgetary constraints permit. Remember, everything from direct mailings to your listing in the yellow pages can promote your company.
Best Practice #3 – Network, Network, Network
One of the most often cited keys to career success for business people is networking and referrals. The idea of networking is to develop a group of contacts throughout the business world. These contacts should be in all facets of business: clients, competitors, marketing, finance, banking, accounting, law, RD, engineering, etc. The goal of developing these relationships is to make yourself more valuable because you can find and solve problems quickly through your network of contacts. When someone needs an answer fast, they come to you.
Best Practice #4 – Introduce Yourself
